The Management Committee of the Ipoh Police Gurdwara ( Sikh Temple ) handed over this handsome Silver Trophy to the Malaysia Sikh Sports Council in 1952. Since then it has become the symbol of Hockey Supremacy amongst Sikhs of Malaysia and Singapore, henceforth this Silver Trophy was named the “GURDWARA CUP”.
In 1968 the Malaysia Singapore Sikh Sport Council was formed and since then the GURDWARA CUP is presented annually to winners of the MSSSC Inter State Hockey Seniors Tournament. Since it’s inception it has been challenged every year without a break.
